Visiting the Langlitz Shop
We have numerous customers visit us from around the world. Many do so simply to get the Langlitz experience first hand, and to allow us to do the measuring for custom orders. For those who want something off the rack, we also have hundreds of garments in stock....both new and used. Though we try to show many aspects of our small shop on this website, we do welcome visitors as it gives them a chance to meet the folks that will actually work on their leathers. Once at Langlitz Leathers, you will be able to enjoy the aroma of the leather, and if you wish to do so...we will give you the grand tour, allowing you to see each aspect of the production process. It really is a simple process, and such tours take about 15 minutes....giving you a chance to see how efficiently we've crammed so much stuff into such a relatively small space. Cameras are welcome!!!
When coming to the shop with the intentions to try on leathers or to get measured, it is best that you bring along a good fitting pair of denim jeans (not new) and T-shirt. Also, it would be nice if you bring your boots along as well, though it is not strictly necessary. Not only is it difficult (and sometimes impossible) to measure over skirts and dressier styled pants, you will find it much more realistic to try on leathers over the clothing you would normally wear when riding.
Once you arive at the intersection of 25th and Dividion, you can either park on the street, or use our parking lot on the west side of the building. Parking on the street is sometimes the easiest, but please be aware that street parking is restricted on the incoming lanes in the morning, and the outgoing lanes in the late afternoon during the two rush hour windows (of 2 hours each--7 am to 9 am heading west, and 4 pm to 6 pm heading east.)
How to find the Langlitz Leathers Shop:
Portland can be entered from 4 freeways that are oriented to the 4 points of the compass. Basically, we are about a mile east of downtown....where 25th avenue intersects Division Street. For those somewhat familiar with the East Side of Portland, we are 10 blocks north of Powell Blvd and 25 blocks south of Burnside, both of which are significant Portland streets that are well known by many people. (There are 20 Portland blocks to a mile.)
Our mailing address (2443 SE Division) does not quite coincide with our actual physical address. Our driveway is directly across from the intersection of 25th Avenue.
For more exact directions, you can use this link to Mapquest or Dave's directions below ...
Directions from the North:
When coming south on I-5, take the I-205 exit north of Vancouver as though you are going to the Portland Airport. Once across the Columbia River, go 6 miles south past the airport and take Exit #19, which is the Division Street Exit. Turn right on Division, and go due west for 3 miles. Stop when you reach 25th Avenue...you will be at our front door!
Directions from the East:
Heading west on I-84, take the I-205 exit heading south to Salem (as opposed to the Portland Airport and Seattle). About 2 miles after getting on I-205, take Exit #19, which is the Division Street Exit. Turn right on Division, and go due west for 3 miles. Stop when you reach 25th Avenue...you will be at our front door!
Directions from the South:
As you enter the city on I-5 from the south, once the downtown part of Portland opens up after going through the Terwilliger corners, you will see the tram tower ahead and the Ross Island Bridge behind it. You will want to cross the Ross Island Bridge by taking Exit 299-A and then follow the signs to the Ross Island Bridge. It is easy to do, but does require some sharp turns....just follow the signs. Once you cross the Ross Island Bridge, head east on Powell Blvd until you reach 26th Avenue......then turn left between the Burgerville and Cleveland High School. Proceed due north for 10 blocks until you come to the Plaid Pantry (convenience store) and traffic light at Division. Turn left and you will see Langlitz Leathers about a half block down and on the right side of Division.
Directions from the West:
Entering Portland through the tunnels on the Sunset Freeway (Hwy 26) from the coastal region, is easy. Once through the tunnel, just stay in the right hand lane and take the Ross Island Bridge exit. Follow the signs to cross the RIB heading east on Powell Blvd until you reach 26th Avenue......then turn left between the Burgerville and Cleveland High School. Proceed due north for 10 blocks until you come to the Plaid Pantry (convenience store) and traffic light at Division. Turn left and you will see Langlitz Leathers about a half block down and on the right side of Division.
